Our Five Most Popular Christmas Cookie Recipes Ever! Plus one…

If you are going to the trouble of making Christmas cookies, why not make the best Christmas cookies any one ever tasted?  Since I live with one of the great Cookie Bakers of all time, it wasn’t exactly easy to come up with this list.  So I went to the numbers and let my readers guide the way.

My British cousin Lady Martha is included because the cookies from her native Austria have consistently pulled in visitors since they first appeared on these pages in 2011.  Next up, last year’s Dorie Greenspan offering practically froze ChewingTheFat with the amount of hits it received. Joanne Chang’s Homemade Oreo Cookies were such a huge hit, that I can’t help but thinking kids aren’t the only ones who love their Oreos.  A Gluten-Free Macaroon managed a particularly impressive feat:  it was first published around Easter time and ended up on our Most Popular list the following December. And apparently, the world loves a great Peanut Butter cookie anytime of the year…especially if you add chocolate chips to it.  The Plus One?  It just had to be the Brown Butter and Toffee Chocolate Cookies that made their appearance here just this Fall but ended up so popular, they’re now being made on a Celebrity Cruise Ship.

Everyone of these cookies are the real deal and worth every minute they take to make.  And if for some reason, none of these appeal to you, by all means go the Search function and you’ll find literally dozens of cookie recipes to make your holiday a very Cookie Christmas.  Enjoy!

If you have kids, these will be one of their all-time favorites.  They’re from Joanne Chang of Boston’s Flour Bakery…

How can we neglect our fans of all things Gluten Free?  They couldn’t resist this recipe for Almond Macaroons…

Since Christmas was not Christmas at my mother’s house without a Peanut Butter cookie, this recipe from Brooklyn’s Baked combines two of her favorite things: Peanut Butter and Chocolate. Turns out, it was one of everybody’s favorites.

We hadn’t published our recipe for Brown Butter and Toffee Chocolate Cookies, which is our lead illustration.  But we can’t imagine that our readers aren’t deep in dough making this extraordinary cookie. Merry Christmas to all and to all a great bake!
